Included Instruments
Strings (10)
Deep, resonant bowed and plucked zithers.
From court majesty to folk
improvisation.
- Ajaeng (Jeongak) A large bowed zither with a deep, rich tone comparable to a cello. Used primarily in court music, it plays the fundamental bass lines of traditional ensembles with a resonant, earthy character.
- Ajaeng (Sanjo) Smaller and more agile than the Jeongak version, the Sanjo Ajaeng offers cello-like expressiveness with faster articulation, perfect for virtuosic solo performances and improvisation.
- Gayageum (25-String) A modern adaptation of the traditional zither, featuring 25 strings for a wider range and complex harmonies. It delivers a rich, harp-like tone suitable for both traditional and fusion genres.
- Gayageum (Jeongak) The original 12-string zither for court music. Known for its clear, elegant, and refined tone, it utilizes restrained playing techniques to emphasize grace and subtlety.
- Gayageum (Sanjo) Designed for folk music, this 12-string zither has a punchier, more expressive tone than the Jeongak version. It allows for dynamic bending and wide vibrato, essential for emotional solo play.
- Geomungo A representative 6-string zither played with a bamboo stick (Suldae). With a deep, percussive sound similar to a double bass, it provides strong rhythmic and harmonic foundations.
- Geum A rare 7-string zither with a soft, elegant tone. Similar to the Gayageum but known for its even more refined sound, used exclusively in ancient court and ritual music.
- Haegeum A 2-string fiddle held vertically. Its unique, nasal tone is incredibly expressive, capable of mimicking the human voice. Versatile enough for everything from court music to modern pop.
- Yanggeum A hammered dulcimer with metal strings, played with bamboo sticks. It adds a bright, clear, and celesta-like resonance to ensembles, offering distinct, sparkly textures.
- Seul A classical zither with many strings, producing a clear and peaceful sound. Requires highly delicate technique, evoking a serene and meditative atmosphere.
Woodwinds (18)
The breath of Korea.
Clear bamboo flutes, piercing reeds, and
meditative
clay vessels.
- Danso A small notched bamboo flute. Its pure, clear tone is similar to a recorder but with a distinct Korean timbre. Known for its soothing sound in solo and ensemble settings.
- Daegeum (Jeongak) The largest traditional transverse bamboo flute. It produces a deep, rich, and buzzing timbre due to a special membrane (Cheong). Ideal for solemn court music.
- Daegeum (Sanjo) Smaller and more agile than the Jeongak Daegeum, with a higher pitch and piercing tone. Essential for the expressive, improvisational Sanjo genre.
- Sogeum A small transverse bamboo flute producing a high, clear, and bright tone. It adds a light, airy texture to ensembles, similar to a piccolo but with an organic warmth.
- Tungso A vertical bamboo flute similar to the Tungso but used in specific Confucian ritual music. It has a solemn, understated character.
- Hoon A globular clay flute (ocarina-like) with a soft, warm, and earthy tone. Its mysterious and breathy sound is perfect for meditative and quiet passages.
- Piri (Hyang) The standard Korean bamboo oboe. It has a warm, mellow tone similar to a clarinet, widely used in both court and folk music for leading melodies.
- Piri (Dang) A cylindrical double-reed oboe with a loud, distinct, and penetrating tone. Originally from Tang China, it plays a key role in loud ensemble pieces.
- Piri (Se) The smallest Piri with a delicate, soft volume. Used in chamber music or to accompany vocals where a gentle tone is required.
- Daepiri A modernized low-register Piri with a deep, resonant sound similar to a saxophone. It bridges traditional timbre with modern lower-range requirements.
- Taepyeongso A loud, conical double-reed instrument with a metal bell. Its piercing, trumpet-like sound makes it the star of outdoor ceremonial and marching music.
- Saenghwang A mouth organ with 17 bamboo pipes. Capable of playing chords and melodies simultaneously, producing a mystical, harmonic sound similar to a pipe organ or harmonica.
- So A panpipe-like instrument used in court music. It produces a clean, refined sound, contributing to the graceful atmosphere of royal ceremonies.
- Yak A small notched flute with three holes, used in court ceremonial dances. It produces a simple, bright tone.
- Jeok A vertical flute similar to the Danso but used in specific Confucian ritual music. It has a solemn, understated character.
- Ji A transverse bamboo flute with a protruding blowhole, used exclusively in specialized court playing alongside the Hun.
- Nabal & Nagak Nabal (Brass Horn) and Nagak (Conch Shell) are single-note heraldic instruments used in military processions (Daechwita) to create a grand, imposing atmosphere.
Percussion (8+)
The heartbeat of tradition.
From massive temple bells to energetic
folk rhythms.
- Banghyang A melodious percussion instrument consisting of iron slabs struck with a mallet. Similar to a glockenspiel, it produces clear, bright, bell-like tones for court and ritual music.
- Pyeonggyeong An ancient lithophone made of L-shaped stone chimes. Struck with a mallet, it produces a pure, earthy, and resonant sound, perfect for meditative and serene atmospheres.
- Pyeonjong A set of tuned bronze bells hung in a frame. Struck with a mallet, they create deep, rich, and majestic resonances, adding grandeur to royal court ceremonies.
- Samulnori Set The four core percussion instruments of Korean folk music: Kkwaenggwari (small gong), Jing (large gong), Janggu (hourglass drum), and Buk (barrel drum). Together, they create dynamic, powerful rhythms.
- Jangdan Set Specialized hit collection for traditional rhythmic patterns. Includes Sori-buk and Jangdan-janggu, providing the solid rhythmic foundation essential for Pansori and dance.
- Cinematic Percussion A massive collection of 17 distinct percussion kits designed for epic scoring. Includes huge drums like Geongo and Yonggo, as well as unique textures like the tiger-scraper (Eo) and wooden clappers (Bak).
- Temple & Ritual Spiritual sounds for meditation and scoring. Features the deep Temple Bell (Beopjong), Moktak (wooden fish), and various shamanic bells and cymbals for a cleansing, mystical atmosphere.

Loved by Composers
Finally, a library that captures the true soul of Korea. The authenticity of the Gayageum and Haegeum is unmatched. This is hands down the best Korean virtual instrument I've ever used.
The textures are incredibly detailed. The percussion set alone is worth the price. It sits perfectly in my orchestral trailer mixes without needing any heavy EQ.
A must-have for ethnic textures. The 'Temple & Ritual' sounds bring instant atmosphere to my scenes. It's rare to find such high-quality samples that truly meet the Professional Standard.
